Sweet Bread Pudding

I make this when I have a lot of leftover bread, or my sourdough loaf comes out too tangy or dense.

Ingredients:

Loaf of old bread, torn into small chunks.

About two cups of milk or orange juice. You can dilute with water if you like.

2 tablespoons lemon juice.

2 eggs.

Optional: Ripe fruit, such as plums, apples, mangoes, pears, or peaches, cut into chunks.

1/2  cup sugar. You may need more or less, depending on the tanginess of the fruit and bread.

1/2 tsp. baking soda, if you are using fruit.

1 teaspoon cinnamon.

Instructions:

Tear a loaf of bread into small to medium sized chunks. Add milk or orange juice to moisten. Mix with the other ingredients.

Bake in a conventional oven at 180° C (350° F) until brown on top, or in the microwave on high until set through.
