Friday Roundup #17

Here’s the week’s news from Cooking Manager:

In Is This Food Safe to Eat, I prepared a chart to help home cooks when they are storing and eating leftovers. One friend on Facebook said that her mother liked to say, “When in doubt, throw it out.” If you’re not sure whether a food is fresh, don’t eat it. But if you store food correctly and are careful to use it up quickly, you won’t get to the point where you have to make a tough decision. At least not very often.

On Tuesday I continued my series on Feeding Babies Frugally with lots of tips for Starting Solids the Easy Way. Part IV will appear on Tuesday.

On Wednesday I posted my mother’s recipe for Cottage Cheese and Noodles, containing a surprise ingredient.

I’m gratified by the increase in traffic this week, including a 500% increase in the number of subscribers. Thanks for the vote of confidence and please let me know if you have questions, comments, or suggested topics.

The blog feed seems to be fixed, but if you get the posts by email you may have missed a few.

Happy cooking and I’ll see you next week.

    Hi,
We are making a Fri morning, informal brunch for a friend the weekend of her son’s barmitzvah. Do you have ideas for food, especially that can be prepared in advance, as this will in general be a busy Shabbos. She is having another brunch on the Sunday and will have bagel and lox there and we don’t want to duplicate…I am looking for ideas like muffins, quiche and other things that can be prepared ahead of time.

    • Hi Terry,
I just emailed you with a few questions and ideas. I’m happy to help you plan your brunch, and I’m sure my readers will also have ideas.
